Submissions for Issue 1 are open!

Make sure to read the guidelines below completely before submitting!

We are open to poetry, prose, photography, and art. Each issue has a theme, and your submissions must fit the theme in some way—even if it’s only very loosely! Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please let us know immediately if your work is submitted elsewhere.

Despite being inspired by a band, we only accept original work or work that is inspired by existing media, but is still original. That is to say, we do not accept fan-fiction.

We are wiling to accept previously published work, so long as the previous publication allows this. Please note any previous publications in the document, at the end of the piece.

Rights and payment: We ask for first serial rights and non-exclusive archival rights to accepted work. As we are a free-to-read zine and run by one person, we are not currently paying contributors. However, we aim to change this in the future. If your work is accepted, we will do our best to promote it!

Poetry: Submit up to five poems at a time in one PDF document, with each poem starting on a separate page. In the rare instance your poem has to be reformatted during the layout phase, you will be contacted beforehand. For visual poetry, please submit in a .png or .jpeg file.

Prose: Send up to 3,500 words in one PDF document. If submitting multiple pieces, each piece must start on a new page. We accept fiction, flash fiction, creative non-fiction, and even works that bend or blend genres!

Art: Submit 1-3 .png .jpeg files with the title of the work as the file name.

Photography: Submit 1-3 .png .jpeg files with the title of the work as the file name.

Do not send us: Works that promote bigotry. (This includes racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, ableism, or xenophobia.) Works that appropriate the experiences or oppression of other groups. Works that include any of these features will not be considered.

You may write about your own experiences with the topics above, however please do not send us anything too graphic. Moreover, include trigger warnings for your piece. Depending on the theme of the issue, we may ask for edits for particularly sensitive work.

You can submit to zinecherryred@gmail.com. Please prepare a short (<100 words) third-person bio and include it in the body of your email. We will try to get back to you in one week!

Submissions for issue one “Float My Way” close on the 2nd of July 2022.
